SUSTAINABILITY

Our commitment to a sustainable future

The CD GROUP places sustainability at the heart of its values, combining respect for the environment, ethics and quality.

Through numerous initiatives, the group is shaping its future by promoting sustainable development and ensuring an equitable approach across the entire production chain.

A LASTING COMMITMENT

Through La Semeuse, the CD GROUP has been committed to environmentally-friendly and fair trade coffee since 1992. A pioneer in Switzerland in roasting certified organic and ethically sourced coffees, it now offers a complete range that meets the strict requirements of the BIO EUROPE and FAIRTRADE labels.

The CD GROUP's commitment to quality and social responsibility makes it an ideal choice for consumers who care about the environment and fair trade.

Some of the chocolates offered by the CD GROUP's brands also bear the RAINFOREST label.

PROXIMITY TO OUR PRODUCERS

Direct contact with producers is a priority for the CD GROUP, which regularly organises visits to coffee-producing countries to raise families' awareness of the values of quality and sustainability.
Thanks to this close collaboration, the Group is able to engage in an open dialogue about the challenges it faces and work together with producers to identify sustainable solutions aimed at improving production conditions.

PACKAGING

In 2020, La Semeuse launched its aluminium-free composite packaging made from 75% renewable and sustainable raw materials. Produced from vegetable oils, this new material provides an excellent protective barrier against light and oxygen in the air. The CD GROUP's coffee brand was one of the first roasting companies in Switzerland to offer aluminium-free packaging.

BUILDINGS AND ENERGY MEASURES

In 2023, the CD GROUP's main warehouse was destroyed by a storm in La Chaux-de-Fonds. The Group quickly set to work and inaugurated a new building at Crêt-du-Locle in autumn 2024.
This new, innovative and environmentally-friendly warehouse is equipped with a wooden frame, numerous solar panels on the roofs/facades and heat pumps, enabling it to produce more energy than it consumes.
